PMI M.O.R.E.: steer projects by value, not by tasks

Margarita · Kosmo Team · 24 October 2026 · 4 min read
In shortM.O.R.E. is an approach from the Project Management Institute (PMI), presented in 2025. It shifts the focus from “on time, on budget, in scope” to the question of whether a project really delivers value. The four principles: manage perceptions, own project success, relentlessly reassess your assumptions and expand perspective. We work this way in all our projects.

What does M.O.R.E. stand for?

The letters stand for four principles:

Why aren’t “on time and on budget” enough?

A project can hit every deadline and still deliver nothing: the new CRM isn’t used, the automation saves no time. Classic project management measures the road. M.O.R.E. measures the destination, that is, the value for the business.

What does this mean for an IT project in a mid-sized company?

How does M.O.R.E. relate to CPMAI?

Both come from PMI and complement each other. CPMAI describes how to deliver an AI or data project step by step. M.O.R.E. describes how to lead a project so that real value stands at the end. More in the article CPMAI: the method for AI projects that work.

How do we apply M.O.R.E. at Kosmo Team?

The team matters too: without training and support, every new solution stays on paper. That is why we offer workshops, coaching and change management.
